I´m Aly, Registered Nurse, Doula and Homebirth Mom x3.
For my very first birth I was SO excited. I signed up for the typical 6 week birth course and I thought I was prepared. After going into labor, I was unknowingly taken down the Cascade of Interventions which ultimately lead to a traumatic C-section that left me feeling defeated, disconnected and distraught.
At my two-week follow-up appointment after my first birth, I asked my OB why I needed a C-section. Her response?
"Your pelvis is too small—you’ll always have to have repeat C-sections."
But I knew deep in my heart—that wouldn’t be my birth story.
When I became pregnant with my second baby, I fully committed to having a homebirth. Now, nine years later, I’ve had three redemptive, healing homebirths that proved birth works when we trust God’s design. Along the way, I became a doula and have had the honor of supporting over 40 births in person.
